AI? ... You are still the star!

I recently released a new musical setting to the hymn text, There is a Green Hill Far Away. I’ll let you in on a little secret… (and you probably would have figured this out on your own upon hearing the first few vocal notes). To create a recording for the vocal solo version, I worked with an AI tool to produce the vocal track. I must say that it was a fascinating and amazing experience, and the output was 'not half bad' for what it is. It certainly could be worse 🤣.

However, the whole experience mostly highlighted for me the nuances that the software just can't match—intentional phrasing, pure vowels, subtle shifts in dynamics, the vulnerability of the human voice, etc. For me, and for this type of music, using AI tools seems like an okay idea for demos, but the output only makes me appreciate the artistry of real performers even more.

Yes, you are still the star in my book! There truly is nothing like hearing great (human) performers!

And by the way, the music itself for There is a Green Hill Far Away is guaranteed human created 😉!
