Be Like Mama White!

Be Like Mama White!

As this school year nears its close and summer vacation is about to begin, I have been thinking back on my high school choir director and what a huge influence she has had on me now for many, many years.

I made a video about how my choir director handled a particular event during my senior year and how it changed the trajectory of my life forever. Take a few minutes to find out more and hear the great lesson she taught me.

I love this story! The same happened to me at Clearfield High school with Les Davis, one of my heroes. I was pretty shy in those days and so nervous to share with him a song I had written called My Testimony. Can you imagine? That song would never be sung in schools now! I only had lyrics as I had never written a note of music, but I played and sang it for him and I was thrilled when he wrote it in parts for our Sophomore Ladies Choir. I’ll never forget how I felt when it was actually performed and later that year recorded on an album. I reconnected with him on Facebook a few years ago and let him know that what he did was life changing for me and that I was still writing after all these years.
