Lane Johnson was born in 1958. He studied at Brigham Young University, where he received his degree in Music Composition and Theory in 1982. Later, he also received a teaching certificate in Choral Music Education. He has taught choral music at both the Junior High and High School levels and has conducted church choirs as well. Since 2019, Mr. Johnson also teaches a Choral Arranging class for the Music Education department at Brigham Young University.

Mr. Johnson's compositions and arrangements have been performed by University, High School, Junior High School, Church and Community choirs all over the world. His pieces have been performed at ACDA National and Regional Conventions and have also been featured in High School State Honor Choir programs. He has received several commissions for original compositions and arrangements from many groups, including the Brigham Young University Singers, the Northern Arizona University Shrine of the Ages choir, the Minnesota Saints Chorale, Utah Valley University, Wasatch Chorale, and various High School and Jr. High School choirs.

Mr. Johnson's music is published by Walton Music, Santa Barbara Music Publishing, Jackman Music, and Lane Johnson Music (lanejohnsonmusic.com). Lane is a member of the American Choral Director's Association (ACDA) and ASCAP. He is married to Marcia Skousen Johnson and resides in Lindon, Utah.
