I Would Hear was selected as the 1st Place Winner of the 2017 Utah ACDA SATB Composition Contest. Such expressive words! Even though the text is somewhat somber, it expresses a deeply-felt love and conveys that love knows no boundaries, not even death. The piece tries to capture the deep love, somberness, depth, and distance of the text through expressive lines, mixed with harmonies that are close and spread, dissonant and lush, and sometimes deep.
Suitable for University and advanced High School choirs.

I believe if I were to die,
and you were to walk near my grave,
from the very depths of the earth,
I would hear your footsteps.
